An established chartered construction consultancy is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its contractor-side commercial division in Chesterfield. The team operates as a main contractor’s commercial function, providing full Quantity Surveying services to major contractors across the UK.
The work covers government refurbishment and building fabric projects, including MOJ, MOD, government offices, defence estates and wider public-sector buildings. Typical project values range from £500,000 to £5 million, with some schemes reaching £20 million.
The division is part of a financially secure international consultancy with long-term contractor relationships. The Chesterfield office has around 50 staff, including 40 Quantity Surveyors, offering a well-supported commercial environment and clear opportunities to progress.

The Quantity Surveyor role Based in Chesterfield with regular site visits, you will provide contractor-side commercial support on government refurbishment and building fabric schemes across the region.
Working within a large and experienced commercial team, you will support contractor clients on live projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Manage project costs and commercial performance
Prepare and assess valuations and variations
Produce cost reports and commercial updates
Support procurement and subcontractor packages
Monitor budgets, costs and commercial risk
Work closely with project teams and contractor clients
Attend sites and client meetings as required
The position offers a varied workload, hybrid working and strong long-term progression.
Some government and defence projects may require security clearance. This will be arranged during onboarding.

About you Experienced Quantity Surveyor from a main contracting or contractor-side background
Confident working on refurbishment schemes
Solid understanding of commercial delivery on main contracting projects
Experience of valuations, variations, cost reporting and procurement support
Construction-related qualification preferred
Comfortable visiting sites and managing your own diary
