FIELD BASED STOCK COORDINATOR

SOUTH WALES & SOUTH WEST ENGLAND

Are you someone who enjoys being out on-site rather than sitting behind a desk? Do you have experience in stock control, inventory management, asset auditing, stores, or warehouse operations?

We're recruiting for a Field Based Stock Coordinator to join a leading utilities organisation and support a major stock optimisation programme across South Wales and South West England.

This is a hands-on role where you'll spend the majority of your time travelling between operational depots and sites, carrying out stock audits, identifying surplus materials, and helping the business maximise the use of existing assets before new purchases are made.

THE ROLE

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6-month contract with potential extension

Location: Field-based across South Wales and South West England

Pay Rate: £21.36 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Typical Hours: 8am to 4pm

Company Car and Fuel Card provided for business use

TRAVEL

This is a genuinely field-based position.

Typically one depot or site visit per day

Regular travel across South Wales and South West England

Manage your own diary and travel schedule

Majority of your time spent on-site rather than in an office

Company vehicle provided for all business travel

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Stock Audits & Asset Reviews

Conduct physical stock checks and asset inspections

Verify stock location, condition, and usability

Reconcile physical stock against inventory records and spreadsheets

Investigate stock discrepancies and resolve inaccuracies

Validate stock ownership and allocation

Stock Management

Identify excess, obsolete, damaged, or stranded materials

Record and maintain accurate stock and asset information

Support the redeployment of surplus stock across operational sites

Recommend reuse, return, transfer, or disposal of materials

Maintain central stock registers and trackers

Operational Support

Match available stock to upcoming work programmes

Support local teams with stock allocation decisions

Improve stock visibility across multiple locations

Help reduce unnecessary purchasing and material waste

Support wider efficiency and cost-saving initiatives

Stakeholder Engagement

Build relationships with Depot Managers, Stores Teams, Operational Managers and Heads of Operations

Provide updates on stock availability and opportunities for redeployment

Challenge inconsistencies and investigate missing information

Escalate issues where stock ownership or allocation is unclear

Reporting

Produce weekly progress updates

Track identified, redeployed and returned stock

Maintain accurate governance records and audit trails

Update central trackers and reporting documentation

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Stock control, inventory management, stores, warehouse or asset audit experience

Experience carrying out stock counts, stock checks or inventory investigations

Comfortable working within depot, warehouse, engineering or operational environments

Strong Excel and data-entry skills

Ability to work independently across multiple locations

Full UK Driving Licence

Comfortable travelling throughout South Wales and South West England

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Utilities, engineering, logistics or supply chain experience

SAP, WMS or inventory management systems experience

Knowledge of electrical assets such as transformers, switchgear or cabling

Continuous improvement or operational efficiency experience
